Nashville-based cybersecurity innovator Scylos has announced the successful close of an oversubscribed $3 million Seed funding round. The financing was led by Galgano family investments, with participation from a group of private investors. The capital will be used to accelerate the development of Scylos’ stateless endpoint infrastructure and expand pilot programs across high-security enterprise and public sector environments.
About The Company
Founded to solve the fundamental vulnerabilities of traditional endpoint management, Scylos is shifting the paradigm away from persistent operating systems. The company’s platform is anchored by ZeroCore™, an operating system-free execution substrate, and managed via Scylos Switchboard™, a centralized control plane designed for governing and transforming endpoints at scale.
Traditional endpoint models rely on ongoing “patch-and-monitor” cycles for persistent OS layers, which Scylos argues were never designed for many of the environments in which they are deployed. By removing the local OS and persistent state from the trust boundary, Scylos drastically reduces the attack surface, simplifies recovery, and allows devices to be updated or changed on the fly without reboots or residual data retention.
Funding Details
The $3 million oversubscribed round highlights significant investor interest in architectural shifts that prioritize uptime and security. Scylos is led by Founder Rich Galgano and CEO Gregg Struve, both of whom bring deep expertise in managing complex, high-stakes infrastructure.
“Most endpoint security problems exist because devices were never designed for the environments they now operate in,” noted Rich Galgano. “Scylos was built to remove that complexity entirely. Instead of managing machines, organizations manage intent; what an endpoint is allowed to do, when it can do it, and under whose authority.”
CEO Gregg Struve emphasized the platform’s readiness for scale: “Scylos was designed from day one to operate without the fragility of traditional endpoint stacks. This funding allows us to accelerate deployments and continue refining a platform that delivers real-world reliability in security-critical environments.”
Market Opportunity
Scylos is targeting environments where downtime and security breaches carry extreme risks. Key use cases include:
- Public-facing kiosks and digital signage
- Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT)
- Regulated enterprise access points
- Zero-Trust Network Access (ZTNA) implementations
The company’s emerging ShapeShifter™ capability further differentiates the platform by allowing policy-driven “persona changes” on demand. This enables a single physical device to perform multiple functions across different security contexts without leaving local data behind, providing a level of flexibility and security previously unavailable in traditional hardware models.
Use of Funds
The fresh capital will be strategically deployed to continue platform development and expand pilot programs across both the public and private sectors. Scylos is also pursuing strategic partnerships to integrate its stateless architecture into always-on, security-sensitive environments. Currently commercially available, the platform supports phased onboarding as organizations complete internal validation and required compliance approvals.
