South Korean autonomous driving startup RideFlux has successfully secured $13.9 million (20 billion KRW) in a pre-IPO funding round. The investment was co-led by existing shareholder Atinum Investment and the Korea Development Bank (KDB). This capital injection marks a critical milestone as the company prepares for an Initial Public Offering on the KOSDAQ market, targeted for the second half of 2026.

About The Company

Founded in 2018 by former LG Electronics engineers Park Jung-hee (CEO) and Yoon Ho (CTO), RideFlux develops full-stack software for Level 4 urban autonomous driving. The company’s mission is to transform mobility into a safer, stress-free journey under the philosophy “For the Safety, Beyond the Safety.”

RideFlux is uniquely positioned in the global market thanks to its headquarters on Jeju Island, which serves as one of the world’s premier test-beds. The island’s diverse road environments and weather conditions have allowed RideFlux to refine its software to handle complex city scenarios. Notably, RideFlux is the only company in South Korea currently permitted to conduct fully unmanned autonomous driving tests (conducted in Seoul’s Sangam district) without a human safety driver behind the wheel.

Funding Details

The $13.9 million round underscores strong market confidence in RideFlux’s technological maturity and commercial roadmap. The round was equally split between Atinum Investment, which continues to double down on the company’s vision, and Korea Development Bank, providing significant institutional validation.

“We will be the fastest to commercialize unmanned autonomous driving and set a new standard for the domestic industry,” stated CEO Park Jung-hee. The company has already accumulated over 2,300 hours of accident-free autonomous driving data, reinforcing its reputation for reliability.

Market Opportunity

RideFlux is executing a dual-pronged strategy targeting both passenger and freight sectors. In addition to its robotaxi and shuttle services in Seoul, Busan, Sejong, and Jeju, the company is aggressively expanding into the autonomous trucking market. RideFlux is currently developing 25-ton autonomous trucks and plans to launch paid middle-mile logistics services in the first half of next year through partnerships with major firms like Samdasoo.

Use of Funds

The newly secured funds will be strategically deployed to:

  1. Advance R&D: Further refine core Level 4 software capabilities and enhance perception technology.
  2. Scale Operations: Expand its specialized engineering team and operational infrastructure to support commercial unmanned services.
  3. IPO Readiness: Finalize the pre-IPO funding stage and prepare for the 2026 listing on the KOSDAQ.
